Quantitative Correlation between Adsorbed and Condensed Water Mass with Response Galvanic Current Detected at the Micron Gap of Galvanic-Coupled Arrays

Sensor surfaces with micron- and nano-gap scales possess high surface-to-volume ratio which greatly affects their contribution towards water adsorption condensation. However, the quantitative relationship between adsorbed molecules condensed droplets remains unclear. In this study, we used humidity-based detected galvanic current within micron gaps of our newly developed moisture sensor chip (MSC) to emphasize droplets. The mass was using a quartz-crystal-microbalance electrode (QCM) whereas estimated microscopically based on occupying volumes at MSC surface. Experimental results demonstrated that minimum detection limit under these experimental conditions ~150 ng/cm2 for ~700 ng/ cm2 detected-response arises when bridges two adjacent arrays is found be linearly correlated and/or water’s mass. Such correlation believed provide feasible long-range can distinguish status its surface-existing either in molecular or droplet-wise regimes.
